Biocure Incorporated
Biocure Inc is a company formed by Novartis, CIBA Vision, CRCERT and the Institute for Eye Research in 1999, on an intellectual property foundation of non-ophthalmic rights to technologies developed as part of the CRCERT/CIBA collaboration. The Institute for Eye Research holds equity in Biocure.
Biocure researchers have made excellent progress in development of embolic products. These technologies are intended, with minimally invasive surgical procedures, to block blood flow to targeted blood vessels, such as those supplying tumours. In 2003 BioCure received approval from the US Food and Drug Administration for a product used to treat non-operable tumours. The product has been licensed to UK-based Biocompatibles International, which will market the product. |
