| ICEE
In line with the Institute’s values, the Institute for Eye Research provides funding to the International Centre for Eyecare Education (ICEE). Founded in 1998, ICEE is a not-for-profit, non-government organisation that is committed to eliminating avoidable blindness, particularly due to uncorrected refractive error. ICEE aims to support the development of high quality, sustainable eye care, and to help ensure that everyone has access to the eye care they need. The ICEE strategy is to develop integrated programmes targeted to local needs, working in collaboration with other organisations. ICEE provides services and training programmes throughout the world from its regional locations.
Since 30 June 1999 the Institute has contributed over several million to ICEE; including cash, in-kind support of a range of staff services, and also the design and production of educational and publicity material.
