The Institute for Eye Research has developed successful management approaches and structures, providing strong support to all its activities, and ensuring effective governance, research management and commercialisation. 

Established in 1985, the Institute is a not-for-profit organisation, incorporated as a company limited by guarantee on 16 January 1998.  To conduct its research activities, the Institute has obtained tax deductible status as a not-for-profit educational organisation pursuant to sections 50-5 and 50-105 of the Income Tax Assessment Act 1997.  Its registered office and principal place of business is:
