International exchange to help solve ‘dry eye’

18 June 2009, Sydney, Australia: The Institute for Eye Research and University of Western Sydney will host an international exchange of leading researchers to progress the development of solutions to the condition ‘dry eye’, from August 3-8. Dry eye, the most common reason we seek medical help for an eye-related condition, and a major reason why people discontinue contact lens wear, affects around 100 million people worldwide. > more | other news

Fluid Lens to Restore Youthful Vision

The Institute for Eye Research is developing a new vision correction technology that will restore youthful vision to ageing eyes. Professor Arthur Ho, Executive Director of Technology at the Institute and Director of the Presbyopia programme at the Vision Cooperative Research Centre talks with Desley Branch from the Radio Australia Innovations programme, about this novel new technology.

Aboriginal Health College opens to help close the gap

A major step forward towards Closing the Gap in health outcomes for Aboriginal people took place with the opening of the first purpose built Aboriginal Health College in Sydney.

The Aboriginal Health College at Prince Henry in Little Bay was officially opened by NSW Governor, Marie Bashir, in the presence of NSW Aboriginal Affairs Minister, the Honourable Paul Lynch MP, the Minister for Roads and Member for Maroubra, the Honourable Michael Daley MP, and more than 300 guests.
